#37 Soccer in a Giant Bubble

This is a must.

Hilarious, sweaty fun!

And it requires zero soccer skills.

I mean if you have them that’s great, but most likely they will be difficult to use because at any given moment another bubble (carrying a human) may slam into you sending you flying and rolling in various directions.

Then there’s the getting up part. If you have short legs, this can be a real challenge. Wait…it kinda of seemed challenging regardless of the length of your legs.

Did I mention sweaty?

Because that was no joke.

Back in February when I was still only halfway to my 40 before 40, I scheduled a half birthday bubble soccer party for myself at Snohomish Sports Institute.

Yes. I did that.

I mean who doesn’t book themselves a half birthday party?

Unfortunately, the timing was challenging for people, so I postponed. Which meant I had to give up on my perfect plan. That’s a hard thing to do for a perfectionist. More about that on another day.

So I finally rescheduled.

My bubble soccer adventurers included:

  • My good sport husband Beau and myself
  • My daughter Emilee and her boyfriend Jordan
  • My sister Amanda, her husband Brad, my niece Isabelle and nephew Cooper
  • My teaching buddies- Rachel, Voni and Megan

You got all that?

Good.

So here we are…7pm at night running around in giant bubbles and attempting to kick a soccer ball in a goal.

Unless you are someone whose name shall not be mentioned, you might throw yourself into the goal…

Teachers are really bad at listening to the directions. At one point my husband said “Aren’t teachers supposed to be good listeners?”

And we all laughed.

Anyway, we got most of it figured out.

Yes, there was an actual soccer ball and we should kick the ball into the goal (not throw ourselves into the goal).

Yes, we play an actual soccer game and we would be playing 4 minute rounds.

That may not sound like very long, but at the end of 4 minutes you can’t wait to shed that big hunk of inflated plastic.

It’s hot in there.

And sweaty.

Did I mention that?

My team lost.

It was Amanda, Brad, Jordan, Cooper and I versus Beau, Emilee, Megan, Voni, Rachel and Isabelle.

They had an extra player.

That’s why they won.

Okay, probably not.

But let’s just go with that.

Here’s a little clip of the action:

And another in case that wasn’t enough:

It was a blast.

I’m so thankful for everyone who could make this such a fun adventure.

And the stop at the brewery before heading home was pretty perfect too.

Until next time,

Adventure awaits…

So glad I rallied and made it! This was seriously the most fun and I would recommend it for everyone. I love how nice we were bumping in to each other at the beginning and then we realized it didn’t hurt to get knocked on our head. Hahahaha! Thumbs up for sure!!! Thank you for the great time!

Looked super fun! Curious how they clean the bubbles for the next group – after seeing the sweaty pictures! Would be a fun staff activity for sure! I sure hope you keep having adventures like this after you turn 40!

Okay…I should have wrote about that because I just told myself that I’m sure they were perfectly sanitized. They really are only as sanitized as the last person who used it….because we just wiped our own bubble down with a Clorox wipe. So I cleaned mine like nobodies business…can’t really speak for the others though 😂
