There was absolutely nothing hot about this.
Okay, I mean it was literally hot.
Like 9 million degrees hot.
But me doing yoga…is not hot.
I’ve never even done a regular yoga class (unless Wii Fit counts), much less hot yoga.
Of course, that’s not why I tried it for my next adventure.
I tried it for my health. My fitness. My attempt to become more flexible.
I tried it so that I may inspire you to try new things too.
Because if I can do it, anyone can.
Oh and my friend Bethany has been trying to convince me for years.
So naturally, it became an adventure goal. We headed over to Spark Hot Yoga on Saturday morning and got our yoga on.
They have a new student special going on…two weeks unlimited for 20 bucks.
Try it out, I dare you.
I’m probably the least flexible person on the planet.
I can’t touch my toes.
Well, I can. But only by strategically lifting my leg up until my foot meets my extended arm.
I want to be able to touch my toes like this:
I’m a clutz at aerobics. Don’t even ask me to do a kickboxing class or Zumba.
No. Just no.
So attempting yoga for the first time (wait, I mean attempting hot yoga for the first time) was slightly ambitious.
But as they say:
It was kinda cool. And by cool, I mean hot. Definitely relaxing and calming. The vibe was way chill. And by chill, I mean hot.
I must have lost 5 lbs in sweat. It dropped off my face in giant splats onto the mat. I couldn’t clasp my hands around my knee because every part of me was a slippery mess.
I’ll spare you the failed poses and drowned rat photos. I actually didn’t even take any because yoga mats are cell phone free zones.
It’s probably better anyway. No one wanted to see that. Besides I don’t think the regulars would appreciate my selfie stick.
Instead I’ll say this:
Don’t be afraid to be terrible at something. Put yourself out there. Take risks. Be bad at things. In fact, totally suck at them. For that’s the only way we learn. It’s the only way we are motivated to be better. Inspired to do more. Without failure, there is no success.
Hey kids, I’m taking my own advice.
Maybe next time I’ll be able to touch my toes…
Aren’t you proud of me?
Until next time,

Hot yoga is not for the faint of heart, but I’ve really enjoyed it the handful of times I’ve done it!

It was pretty cool. I think once I learn the moves it would be more relaxing 😎
